5-year-old boy in hospital after near-drowning in Noble County
The victim is recovering at a hospital in Fort Wayne.

A 5-year-old boy is in Parkview Fort Wayne Hospital after nearly drowning at Bixler Lake Park in Kendallville Saturday, June 15.
At around 4:50 p.m. Saturday, the boy and his family were at the beach at Bixler lake park when he went missing, according to a press release from Indiana Department of Natural Resources. Lifeguards conducted a head count and found they were missing one person when the boy’s father reported him missing.
The boy was found almost immediately floating in about 5 feet of water and was unresponsive. Lifeguards and medics performed CPR until emergency responders arrived and took over.
The boy was taken to Parkview Hospital in Noble County. He was later flown to Parkview Fort Wayne.
Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating the near-drowning.
