MIDDLEBURY — A two-vehicle accident just south of the Middlebury city limits killed a Goshen woman early on Wednesday, May 15.
According to Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department investigators, Eustolia Arellano, 40, was traveling south on S.R. 13 and was preparing to turn east on C.R. 20. An SUV driven by Petra Tecpil, 36, of Goshen, also was southbound on S.R. 13 and was passing another vehicle just north of C.R. 20.
Tecpil’s 2003 GMC Yukon struck the driver’s side of Eustolia’s 2011 Nissan Murano.
Arellano was airlifted to Memorial Hospital in South Bend, where she died of her injuries. Tecpil was treated at Memorial Hospital for chest and ankle pain.
Arellano was the wife of Cpl. Robert Roa, who has worked with the Elkhart Police Department for about 20 years.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family,” said Capt. Michael Stuff with the Elkhart Police Department.
