Cass Co. crash injures Dowagiac man
The driver was in "very critical condition" Friday evening.

DOWAGIAC, Mich. — A Dowagiac man was in “very critical condition” Friday evening after a one-vehicle crash in the morning.
Edward Levi Schoff, 57, of Dowagiac, was driving his pickup truck near the intersection of Daily Road and Beeson Street in Cass County’s LaGrange Township when the vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a tree.
The accident occurred at 6:55 a.m. Friday, March 29, according to a news release from the Cass County Sheriff’s Department.
Schoff was not wearing a seatbelt and alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
He was airlifted to Borgess Medical Center.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Cassopolis Fire Department, LifeCare Ambulance and AirCare.
The crash remains under investigation.
