ELKHART Two arrested for Friday shooting

Two men were arrested Firday in connection to a shooting in Elkhart.

ELKHART — Two men were arrested in connection with a shooting Friday morning that sent a man to the hospital.

Devarious Cantrell, 22, was arrested for attempted murder at 1313 Kinzy St., according to the Elkhart Police Department. Jose Pena, 42, was arrested for battery resulting in bodily injury at 175 Waterfall Drive, Elkhart. Neither suspect has been formally charged, said Ed Windbigler, chief investigator at the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office.

Elkhart police officers were dispatched to the 200 block of E. Indiana Avenue around 5:25 a.m. Friday, where they located a 30-year-old man who was shot in the upper thigh area, according to a press release.

The man was taken with non-life-threatening injuries to Elkhart General Hospital, where he was treated and released.
