Elkhart drug investigation yields two arrests

Two people were arrested after Elkhart police executed a search warrant on West Garfield Avenue Monday night.

ELKHART — Two people were arrested after Elkhart police executed a search warrant Monday night.

Willie Ray Shepherd, 57, of Elkhart, was arrested on preliminary felony charges of dealing cocaine and maintaining a common nuisance, and Tina Marie Smith, 43, was arrested on a preliminary felony charge of maintaining a common nuisance, according to a press release from the Elkhart Police Department.

Officers conducted the search warrant at 504 W. Garfield Ave. around 7 p.m. Monday and found drug paraphernalia, according to police.
