CASS COUNTY, Mich. - Two men are listed in critical condition after an accident this morning.

According to Cass County police, Kevin Miller, 51, of Niles, Mich. was eastbound on Pine Lake St. when his vehicle crashed head-on with another vehicle driven by 29-year-old Lucas Luth, of Edwardsburg, Mich.

Emergency personnel from the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Life Care Ambulance, Edwardsburg Fire/Ambulance, Memorial Medflight and the Edwardsburg/Ontwa Township Police Department responded to the crash scene.

Firefighters had to extricate both drivers from their vehicles. According to police, both vehicles’ air bags deployed and both men appeared to have been wearing their seat belts. Alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the crash.

Miller was transported to South Bend Memorial Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Luth was airlifted to South Bend Memorial by MedFlight, but was later flown to a hospital in Kalamazoo. He also remains in critical condition.

The investigation of the crash remains ongoing.
