Arrests made in connection to weekend crime

Edwardsburg police made several arrests in relation to a breaking and entering incident this weekend.

EDWARDSBURG, Mich. — Edwardsburg Police officers arrested five people Monday in connection to a breaking and entering incident that occurred over the weekend.

Police believe the suspects stole a vehicle and then used the vehicle to steal several bicycles and a motorcycle.

Officers received a description of a vehicle that could have been used in a breaking and entering incident in the 25000 block of May Street.

During the investigation, Blake Daniel McNeil, 17, of Edwardsburg, William Paxton Haskins, 35, of Edwardsburg, Nicholas Adam Zeytoonian, 18, of Goshen, Jonathan Dean Smith, 26, of Edwardsburg and Gary Lee Leiting, 17, of Edwardsburg were arrested.

Charges include conspiracy to commit breaking and entering with intent, breaking and entering with intent, unlawful driving away of an automobile, possession of burglary tools, receiving and concealing stolen property and larceny from a building.

Police believe this group has been involved in several break-ins of vehicles and homes in the area, but investigating officers have not attained enough evidence to support more charges at this time.
