ELKHART — The Indiana Economic Development Corp. named a local industrial park Tuesday as one of the “shovel-ready” sites it will push for economic development in Indiana.
“This gives us visibility on the state level and a real boost to our economic development efforts,” said Dorinda Heiden-Guss, president of the Economic Development Corp. of Elkhart County. The Elkhart Chamber of Commerce and developer DJ Construction worked with the county group to get the state certification, which means the state will emphasize the site to companies looking to locate in Indiana.
”For businesses, time is money and more and more companies are looking for sites where they can have a shovel in the ground as quickly as possible,” said Dan Hasler, Secretary of Commerce and chief executive officer of the IEDC in Tuesday’s announcement. “This program continues to be yet another vital tool in our economic development toolbox that gives Indiana the edge when attracting new investment to the state.”
A Plymouth site also gained certification from the state Tuesday.
