SOUTH BEND — A Goshen man faces five to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to distributing child pornography.
Raymond Belsan Jr., 33, this week pleaded guilty to the felony charge in Federal Court in South Bend.
According to plea agreement documents from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Belsan in September 2012 possessed a computer with images of child pornography, some of them depicting children under the age of 12, and uploaded those images to the Internet so others could access them.
He was arrested on July 19, 2013, after an investigation by members of the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the United States Secret Service, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
In addition to the prison term, Belsan faces a term of supervised release of five years to life and a possible fine of up to $250,000. He may also be required to pay restitution to the victims.
Belsan’s sentencing has been scheduled for Jan. 22, 2014.
Charges against Belsan of receiving child pornography and possession of books and magazines depicting child pornography were dropped as part of the plea agreement, said Marry Hatton of the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
