Elkhart man arrested for leaving scene of crash, leading police on car chase

Damien Lee, 36, of Elkhart was arrested on preliminary charges of leaving the scene of a property damage crash, a Class C misdemeanor, and resisting law enforcement, a Class D felony.
According to a press release from the Elkhart Police Department, officers were dispatched to reports of a hit-and-run.
The car was found in the area, and Lee led police on a short chase through the south side of the city, west of Benham Avenue, between Indiana and Lusher avenues, until the car was stopped on the 1300 block of Lusher Avenue.
Lee was booked in the Elkhart County Jail without a bond, according to the jail website.
