Rogers most recently served as business development director at the Indianapolis Star, driving digital sales and growth there. He brings 17 years of experience in advertising and marketing in the news media to the table.
Per his duties, he’ll lead efforts to promote ad sales for the print and online versions of the Elkhart Truth.
“Print is still relevant for the communities that we serve and the advertisers in our market,” he said. There’s still a “huge audience and a very engaged audience” in print.
That said, promoting online ad sales in tandem with that — providing “integrated marketing solutions” — is equally important. Advertisers need to have a presence “across multimedia platforms — print, digital, direct marketing — to get effective reach,” Rogers said.
Elkhart Truth Publisher Brandon Erlacher touted Rogers’ integrated approach and experience.
“Craig has consistently positioned companies for long-term business growth through sales leadership and effective brand strategy development,” Erlacher said. One of his noteworthy strengths is “connecting businesses with consumers through integrated marketing solutions that align with the new consumer journey” across the print and digital realms.
Rogers said the Elkhart Truth is uniquely positioned to serve the community’s advertising needs, even as the market evolves.
“We have longstanding trust and a relationship in the community and we’re local, which sets us apart from the many digital providers from outside the local market,” he said.
Rogers noted that social media like Twitter and Facebook are “the new word of mouth.” Accordingly, he’ll also collaborate with Strawberry Fields Marketing Agency, pointing clients to the Elkhart Truth’s sister company when they seek online marketing assistance.
As part of his duties, Rogers, who started Oct. 7, is a member of the Elkhart Truth executive team.
Aside from the Indianapolis Star, Rogers has held marketing and advertising posts at the Peoria Journal Star in Illinois, at the Post and Courier in Charleston, S.C., and in the Gannett Corp. He has a bachelor’s degree in sports marketing from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
Rogers is married with two children.
