While the storms Thursday night are not predicted to be severe, they could bring heavy rains.
Friday will have a high temperature around 78 degrees with thunderstorms during the day and into the evening. These storms could be severe and may cause flooding Friday afternoon and Friday night.
Cooler temperatures will move into the area for the weekend with clearing skies and highs in the upper 60s on Saturday and Sunday.
Thursday’s thunderstorms knocked out power to a number of Elkhart residents. Indiana Michigan Power reported 670 customers without power in Elkhart County just before 5 p.m. Only two NIPSCO customers in Elkhart were without power at that time.
The Walmart store on C.R. 6 was without power Thursday afternoon. Registers were running on backup generators and customers were asked not to open coolers and freezers.
