IU Health Goshen previously won the award in 2010. The designation is for three years. Beacon Award winners are evaluated on patient outcomes, evidence-based best practices and staffing levels among other criteria. IU Health Goshen received a gold designation.
IU Health Goshen’s critical care nurses were recently recognized for cutting-edge care at the National Teaching Institute and Critical Care Exposition in Boston earlier this summer. They presented on the role of collaboration in implementing progressive mobility for patients in the intensive care unit.
“The changes we’ve made have resulted in improved outcomes for our patients already, as evidenced by decreased ventilator stays during the first year,” said critical care nurse Josi DeHaven.
