Linda Sedlock, 69, of Elkhart, also received bruising on her chest, in addition to the broken thumb. She refused medical treatment, according to a press release from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.
Sedlock was driving south on C.R. 9, north of C.R. 20, behind another car driven by Mariam Orta, 37, of Elkhart at approximately 4:35 p.m. Sedlock looked away from the roadway and didn’t see that Orta had slowed in preparation of turning west into a parking lot. Sedlock crashed into the back of Orta’s car. Orta was not injured in the crash.
No citations were issued, according to the press release. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.
