ELKHART — Charles “Charlie” Henderson, 46, of Elkhart, passed away unexpectedly while camping Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013, in Cassopolis, Mich.
He was born on Oct. 1, 1966, in Elkhart, a son of Elmer and Mildred Inez (Collins) Henderson.
Charlie received his bachelor’s degree in business from Oakland City University. He worked at Thor Industries in Elkhart and was a member of Zion Missionary Church in Elkhart.
Charlie enjoyed auto racing and slot cars and had previously been a driver. He also loved to camp and travel, especially spending time with family and friends.
Surviving are his son, Joshua (Anna) Henderson of Muskegon, Mich.; sister Deanna (Mark) Henderson of Three Rivers, Mich.; brothers Richard (Malinda) Henderson of Ligonier and Brian (Josette) Henderson of Parrish, Fla.; Charlie’s girlfriend, Gidget Fields, and her son, Franklin Pick of Elkhart; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Jamie Hershberger.
Relatives and friends will be received Thursday, Aug. 15, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Eley Funeral Home in Constantine, Mich. Religious services will be at the funeral home at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, with Pastor Dale Turner officiating. Interment of ashes will be at a later date in White Pigeon Township Cemetery.
