MILLERSBURG — Robert Jonas Peachey, 77, died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at his home.
He was born March 1, 1936, in Belleville, Pa., to Jesse and Dorothy (King) Peachey.
On Oct. 7, 1961, he married Violet Harshberger.
She survives along with a daughter, Pam (Steve) Vail of Millersburg; two grandsons, Brock and Brett Vail; a great-granddaughter, Sophia; two sisters, Sara (Allen) Lind of Salem, Ore., and Elaine (Olen) Swartz of Au Gres, Mich.; and a brother, Marvin (Avonelle) Peachey of Belleville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Rodney Peachey, in 1996; and a sister, June Schuler, in 1998.
Robert served two years in Mennonite Voluntary Service. He was a longtime area resident, who worked at Shasta Trailer and Troyer Poultry, before owning and operating Harshberger Insulation. Along with being a business owner, he had his own small farm for many years. He later lived at Westler Lake near Wolcottville and worked for C.M.I. (Hayes Lemmerz).
After his son Rodney’s death, he moved to Millersburg to be nearer to his daughter Pam’s family. In his retirement years, he enjoyed walking, fishing, visiting with neighbors and was “Grandpa Bob” to many. A special joy was visiting family and friends in central Pennsylvania, where his roots were.
