Rodolfo Rangel, 37, of Goshen, was arrested July 25 after the Elkhart County Prosecutorís office filed a warrant for his arrest. Rangel was arrested in Zapata, Texas, and transported to the Elkhart County Jail.
All five counts are Class A felonies, meaning Rangel faces up to 50 years in prison for each charge.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed to obtain his warrant, Rangel sold more than 28 grams of cocaine to a confidential source working with the Elkhart County Interdiction and Covert Enforcement Unit on five different occasions between Jan. 24 and Feb. 26.
For each purchase, Rangel received $900. The suspect and the confidential source met in different parts of Goshen to make the purchases. On one occasion, they met near IU Health Goshen Hospital.
Following the investigation from the ICE unit, the prosecutorís officer filed formal charges June 20.
Rangelís initial hearing has been scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 8, at 8:30 a.m. in Circuit Court.
