The national weather service predicts a mostly cloudy day with a high of only 71 degrees this afternoon. It also estimates a 30 percent chance of morning showers before 11 a.m., then only a 20 percent chance tonight.
AT THE GRANDSTANDS
The motorcycle races start at 1 p.m., and the Nation-Wide Demolition Derby starts at 7 p.m., so bring a jacket. Following the derby, Mad Bomber Fireworks returns to the fair at dusk for a show.
ON THE PARK STAGE
The Concord Dance Team and CBDC will take the stage at 4 and 7 p.m., with the Knotty Bits Sideshow on the stage at 5 and 8 p.m.
Most of the animals are gone, though the 4-H Dog Club will have costume contests and tricks starting at 8:30 a.m. The 4-H Rocket Club will launch at 9:30 a.m. south of roadway gate 6, and the exhibit hall remains open with most of the “non-breathing” 4-H exhibits on display.
Today’s theme is “Gardening for the Senses,” with talks in Ag Hall at 1, 2:30 and 4 p.m.
The Best of Michiana Ribs Contest in the lamb barn starts at noon, the same time as the Great Homemade Ice Cream Crank-off Contest in the Home and Family Arts Building.
It’s family health day in the Elkhart General Hospital tent, and it’s lung and sleep health day in the IU Health Goshen tent. Both tents offer a variety of health screenings today.
