The event began in 2003 and takes place the second weekend of every August. This year, the sale will begin Friday, Aug. 9 and finish up Sunday, Aug. 10.
Items for sale include antiques, furniture, collectables, fresh garden produce, homemade jams and jellies and more. There will be live entertainment at several locations along the route. Several events, such as Saline Summerfest and the Ship and Shore Festival in New Buffalo, will be happening during the weekend as well.
Community-wide garage sales will be in Three Oaks, Buchanan, Edwardsburg, Allen, Jonesville, Clinton, Saline, Ypsilanti, Irish Hills, Rentschler Farms and Wayne.
Non-profit groups are collecting donations for the sale, as it serves as a large fundraising event every year. Other organizations are renting space out for people who want to sell but donít have a place to show their items.
Anyone interested in hosting a sale along U.S. 12 should register by Aug. 7 to be included in the online map and the downloadable and printable list of sales. Registration is free at www.us12heritagetrail.org.
