Quick Bites: Antonios wine dinners produced great food

It’s what Paul Cataldo and his family and staff do. They feed people and do it well.
If you missed them, the food was great and the price of $45 per person made it a bargain.
The special dinners at the restaurant are selling out faster and faster. They’re a hot ticket.

• I don’t often get press releases from state officials about restaurants reopening, but State Sen. John Proos, who represents southwest Michigan, sent out a release touting that the Stray Dog Bar & Grill in New Buffalo, Mich., is reopening less than a year after the fire that destroyed it in July 2012.
He helped the owners get the new liquor license so that they could capitalize on the busy summer season near Lake Michigan, according to the release.

• If you’re heading out to eat this week, you may want to double-check that your favorite spot is open. Heinnie’s and a few other places close for the week due to the holiday. And with the holiday falling on Thursday, some may close up for the entire weekend.
• Reader Karen Gorski asked about a drive-in that was located in Dunlap in the mid-1960s. She said a family member remembered great onion rings, but you had to go up to an outside window to order.
My guess is that it was the Minute Man Drive-In. But I’m not sure. Can any readers help answer that question?
• Mark your calendars. The next Greater Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church barbecue is July 12-13. Due to the generosity of pit master Robert Honorable and other organizers, I have tickets to give away and will do so the week of July 8.
