NIPSCO is increasing the number of employees working at its customer call center Wednesday, June 12, and Thursday, June 13. There will also be extra work crews on hand and they are preparing to respond quickly to problems. NIPSCO said it is postponing scheduled work that would have required equipment to be out of service. The company has also said it will remain in contact with public officials throughout the night Wednesday and into Thursday.
If your power does go out, you can visit NIPSCO’s mobile site on your smart phone to report the outage. You can also visit www.nipsco.com/outagecenter or call 1-800-464-7726.
NIPSCO’s Facebook and Twitter pages will also have updates.
The Indiana Department of Homeland Security has also issued a notice reminding residents that there’s a possibility for tornados Wednesday and Thursday. There is a high risk for severe weather in northern Indiana and the rest of the state has a moderate or slight risk. Storms could bring damaging winds, large hail, lightning, tornados, and rainfall causing flash flooding.
The IDHS recommends charging electronic devices and gathering supplies like food and water, flashlights, batteries, and an all hazards radio.
As of Wednesday afternoon, Accuweather.com predicted severe thunderstorms starting around 6 p.m. Wednesday.
