Mo-ped driver crashes into windshield in collision with car

The mo-ped was westbound on Hively around Stevens Avenue when it crossed paths somehow with a white Honda sedan. The mo-ped ended partially lodged under the front end of the Honda and the mo-ped operator crashed into the autoís windshield, according to Elkhart police Sgt. Scott Claybaugh.
The mo-ped operator, an adult man, suffered an apparent broken leg and a laceration to the head, but was alert and conscious after the wreck, according to Claybaugh. He was taken from the scene in an ambulance, but it wasnít immediately clear to which hospital.
The call for the wreck came in at 1:47 p.m. Saturday and the accident caused the temporary closure of Hively between Frances and Stevens avenues. Names of the car and mo-ped operators werenít immediately available.
