The Elkhart Community Schools Board of Trustees adopted the changes on May 7 to address shortfalls in transportation funding.
The letters have been customized for each student, explaining how the changes will impact the student’s school day.
Classes next year will run from 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. for elementary students. High school and middle school students will have classes from 7:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.
School boundaries for several elementary schools have been changed, including Bristol, Cleveland, Eastwood, Hawthorne, Mary Beck, Mary Daly, Mary Feeser, Osolo, Riverview, Roosevelt and Woodland.
Maps of the revised school boundaries are available at elkhart.k12.in.us.
Parents who do not receive a letter by May 22 are asked to contact the Student Services Department at 262-5540 or email@example.com.
