Becky Yoder joined in the sharing of stories at the 18th annual Middlebury Old Timers meeting at the Middlebury Town Hall on Tuesday, May 15, 2012. The meeting is an opportunity for seniors to socialize and share with future generations what life was like growing up in Middlebury. The event is video recorded and made available to the public through the Middlebury Community Public Library. (Truth Photo by Gloria E. Salavarria)
Young and old alike are invited to share stories, ask questions, bring items from their youth and tell what life was like in the “good old days” in Middlebury.
The Old Timers meeting began as an opportunity for seniors who lived in Middlebury to gather and reminisce about their youth. The stories are often full of fun and interesting facts about a past full of high jinx that show younger members of the community how much they share in common with their elders.
The Middlebury Community Historical Society sponsors this free event, which is videotaped for posterity, with the tapes available for viewing at the Middlebury Community Library or the Middlebury Community Historical Museum.
