SOUTH BEND — Mae Helen Kimbrough, 67, of South Bend and formerly of Elkhart, departed this life at 12:07 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2013, at Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.
She was born on Dec. 24, 1945, to the union of Velver Sr. and Alice Dooley in Holly Springs, Ark.
Mae married Thomas B. Kimbrough on June 16, 1962, and remained his life partner until his death.
Mae worked at Vincent-Bach in Elkhart for 25 years. She was a member of UAW Local 364. Mae enjoyed road trips and spending time with family.
Mae is survived by one daughter, Nicole Kimbrough of Indianapolis; three sons, Thomas R. Kimbrough of Elkhart, Vincent Kimbrough (Josephine Brown-Kimbrough) of Elkhart and Chad (Jennifer) Kimbrough of South Bend; four grandchildren, Amy Ruther, Ivan Kimbrough, Hannah Kimbrough and Maya Coleman; and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Alpha Mae (DeOtis) Gregory, Telitha Army and Queenester Lovelady, all of Elkhart; and two brothers, Amos Dooley and Carl Dooley Sr., both of Elkhart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Velver and Alice Dooley; brothers Velver Dooley Jr. and Willie Allen Dooley; and a sister, Glennis Arnold.
Funeral services for Mae Helen Kimbrough will be Saturday, May 4, 2013, in Clark-O’Neal Funeral Home Inc., 2702 Lincoln Way West, South Bend. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. with service at noon. Burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
