Fire early Thursday in Elkhart ruled arson

The Elkhart Fire Department responded at 12:06 a.m. Thursday, April 11, to a fire at 427 Aspenwald Ave., according to a news release.
When they arrived at the scene, flames were seen coming out of several windows and a door on the east side of the two-story home.
The fire was under control by 1 a.m.
The fire started in the laundry room on the first floor of the building and caused about $40,000 of damage. The home had an estimated value of $75,000.
A moped stored in the building was also destroyed.
