Woman injured in two-vehicle crash in Elkhart

The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department and Concord Township Fire Department responded around 3 p.m. to S.R. 19 near the U.S. 20 Bypass where the accident happened.
Patrolman Mat Walsh with the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department said a woman driving a white SUV was going south in the left lane of S.R. 19 when a red SUV entering east from the bypass collided with her vehicle as it tried to merge onto the left southbound lane.
The woman was taken to Elkhart General Hospital to be checked for any injuries.
The northbound lanes of S.R. 19 were closed to the traffic temporarily while first responders worked on the scene.
