Crash, .28 BAC land Elkhart woman in jail

The accident happened at about 5:30 a.m.
According to a report from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, Mamie Army, 30, of Elkhart, was driving East on Toledo Road and turned north onto Outer Drive, into the path of Shawna Wagers, 34, of Elkhart, who was driving west on Toledo Road. The front left corner of Army’s vehicle struck the front left corner of Wagers’s car.
Wagers was taken to Elkhart General Hospital with pain in her chest and shoulders. Army was arrested for operating while intoxicated and causing a serious injury. She was given a chemical test an hour after the crash and it resulted in a Breath Alcohol Content of .28.
Army also received preliminary charges of not having insurance and failure to yield right of way.
