SOUTH BEND — The smartphone application “In Case of Emergency” Michiana is expanding to include the Community Hospital of Bremen. The free ICE Michiana app gives First Responders access to life-saving patient information in the field and provides Emergency Rooms with critical pre-arrival health information. Existing participating locations include Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center in Mishawaka and Plymouth, IU Health Goshen and IU Health Starke and Woodlawn hospitals. ICE Michiana’s unique “push” technology allows First Responders or smartphone users to send hospital Emergency Rooms the reason for their visit and critical medical information prior to their arrival. The app launched in August 2012 through collaboration between Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center and Force 5. For more information visit www.theiceapp.com or call 234-2060.
