GOSHEN — A woman charged with dealing in methamphetamine, was able to get her bond reduced, but not by much.

Emily Parsons, 23, of Three Rivers, Mich., is charged with dealing in meth, a Class A felony; possession of 3 grams or more of meth, a Class C felony; possession of a schedule II controlled substance, a Class D felony; and possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor.

She appeared for her bond reduction hearing Thursday, March, 14, where she was told her bond would be reduced from $150,000 to $125,000.

Parsons was arrested Feb. 21 after a traffic stop on C.R. 17, just north of C.R. 14. Police found in the car she was driving several small plastic bags that contained meth, as well as methadone pills. Police also found marijuana in the vehicle.

Parsons told a deputy from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department that she was simply transporting the drugs that someone else gave her to deliver. She was booked in the Elkhart County Jail.

During her bond hearing, Parsons told the judge she just wanted to have the chance to see her two children again. The deputy prosecutor objected to having Parson’s bond reduced because of the seriousness of the crime and because her ties to Three Rivers mean she could flee Elkhart county. Parsons’s attorney noted that Parsons has family in Elkhart and she would be staying in the county if she were to bail out from the jail. The judge took into consideration that Parsons had no criminal history in making the decision to reduce the bond.

Further proceedings were scheduled May 9.
