One airlifted to hospital after car hit tree in Elkhart

The driver of the vehicle, 16-year-old Martin Olais, was taken to the hospital for treatment of a broken femur.
A Medevac helicopter landed in the area on the city’s southeast side and flew Olais’ passenger, 16-year-old Marcus Fernandez, to Memorial Hospital in South Bend for pain in his arm and abdomen.
The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the accident.
