Simonton Lake Drive-in is back serving its homemade root beer

Several cars were parked tucked in tight to the menu stands as the drivers ordered their sandwiches, corn dogs, and large mugs of root beer.
Chuck Gooding brought his 5-year-old grandson Nolan Cline for lunch. The duo ate with mugs of root beer resting on the dashboard of Gooding’s Jeep. Nolan chimed in with a big grin on his face that they go on “Jeep adventure days” together.
Piles of snow were hugging the edge of the parking lot, but the warmer temperatures and bright sunshine made it perfect for opening day of the 1950’s style drive-in on S.R. 19 north of Elkhart.
