Middlebury teen wins state Distinguished Young Woman award

Alex Hochstetler will go on to the national Distinguished Young Woman competition in June in Mobile, Ala. In addition to the top prize, which comes with a $7,000 cash scholarship, Alex also won a pair of $500 scholarships for winning the interview and a scholastic award section of the competition Saturday night.
Madison McArt of Elkhart won third runner-up in the state, earning a $1,000 scholarship for her education.
