ELKHART — Willard G. “Doc” Secaur, 97, of Elkhart, passed away at 11:20 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at Greenleaf Health Campus.
He was born Sept. 11, 1915, in Wilshire, Ohio, to William and Christina (Kern) Secaur.
He married Irene H. Anderson on Aug. 28, 1937, in Crawfordsville. She preceded him in death on April 18, 1999, in Elkhart. On June 24, 2006, in LaGrange he married Ruth L. (Bolin) Mead.
She survives along with four children, Marna (Harold) McDaniel of Apopka, Fla., Millicent Trulli of Denver, Cheryl Cappelletti of Elkhart and Jeffrey (Emiline) Secaur of Warsaw; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
“Doc” loved music and enjoyed playing the bass horn and viol. He also enjoyed playing golf and fishing and was a handyman who could fix anything. He was a charter member of Elkhart Grace Brethren Church and helped to build three of its churches. He worked for 11 years at Miles (now Bayer) and for 20 years at Sears. After his retirement he worked part time for Don’s Printing.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2013, at the funeral home. Pastor Mike Ostrander of Elkhart Grace Brethren Church will preside. Burial will follow in Prairie Street Cemetery.
