MILLERSBURG — A woman was ejected from a car and her condition remains unknown following an accident that sent three people to the hospital Tuesday, Feb. 26.

According to a report from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, the accident happened at about 1:22 p.m. four miles south of the Millersburg city limits. Kevin Clark, 36, of Kimmell, was driving west on C.R. 50, just east of U.S. 33, when the car went off the north side of the road, crashing into a utility pole with the passenger’s side of the car.

Shannon Barton, 33, of Ligonier, was ejected from the car upon impact. She was found on the ground just outside the passenger side of the vehicle. She was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, the report said.

Barton was taken to Memorial Hospital in South Bend with facial lacerations, but the hospital could not provide an update on her condition Wednesday, Feb. 27.

Logan Jones, 3, of Ligonier, was fastened into a child restraint seat, but he sustained some facial trauma and was taken to IU Health Goshen Hospital.

Clark was also taken to the Goshen hospital with facial swelling and a nasal fracture. Jones and Clark were treated and released.
