More than a thousand households are waking up without power in Elkhart County as the snow continues to fall.

Indiana Michigan Power is reporting that 1,368 of its 48,099 customers in the county are without power, as of 7:30 a.m. That’s 2.8 percent of its customers in the county.

Some residents in St. Joseph County are also without power, but the number is closer to 1,000.

The power utility provides service to western Elkhart County. Northern Indiana Public Service Co., which provides power to the rest of Elkhart County, isn’t reporting any outages, according to its website.
