GOSHEN — Francis J. Coyne, 86, died at 12:27 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at IU Health Goshen Hospital.
He was born Jan. 3, 1927, in New Bedford, Mass., to the late Patrick J. and Julia (Daley) Coyne. On June 21, 1952, in Ann Arbor, Mich., he married Mauveen McKenty. She died June 10, 2010.
Surviving are one daughter, Martha (Larry) Clipp of Seymour, Ill.; five sons, Patrich M. (Barbara) Coyne of Rialto, Calif., David G. (Laura) Coyne of Goshen, Christopher P. (Vickie) Coyne of Goshen, Daniel S. (Emily) Coyne of Evanston, Ill., and Stephen J. Coyne, of Elkhart; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Connor and Gertrude Bellavance, both of New Bedford; and one brother, John F. (Eileen) Coyne of Fairhaven, Mass.
Francis was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Catherine Fitzgerald; and a brother, Edmond “Pat” Coyne.
Mr. Coyne was an accountant. He was the cost accounting manager at Kaiser Jeep Corp. He also owned and operated Old Father Canoe Renal on the Elkhart River. He had also worked in Sturgis, Mich., at Marvel Industries as treasurer and at Goshen Rubber, where he was a cost estimator. He was also the director of finance at Starr Commonwealth and controller for Instamatic Corp.
He was a member of the Goshen Lions Club, Friends of the Library, Christian Family Movement, Exchange Club and Toastmasters, and was on the board of the National Association of Investor’s Club.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Goshen. The Rev. Tony Steinacker will officiate. Cremation will follow the service. Burial of Francis’ cremated remains will be at 11 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2013, in West Goshen Cemetery. Members of the Goshen Honor Guard will honor Mr. Coyne’s military service at the graveside service. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Fleet.
