COATESVILLE — Sonja Jean (Whitehead) Everts, 74, dearly loved wife and mother, went to be with the Lord peacefully in her home Friday, Feb. 22, 2013.

She was born May 2, 1938, in Elkhart, to George Grover and Evelyn (Eger) Whitehead.

She graduated from Elkhart High School in 1956 and received her bachelor’s degree from Ball State University and her master’s in education from Saint Francis College. She was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority and taught in Muncie and North Webster Elementary schools for several years.

She married David L. Everts on Aug. 14, 1960. He survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Jama (Stacy) Hostetler and Krista (Ross) Dahlstrom, both of Coatesville; one son, Chad (Carley) Everts of Indianapolis; nine grandchildren, Mischon Dahlstrom, Heidi (Ryan) Meyer, Brian Shear, Trent (Whitney) Dahlstrom, Brayden (Fran) Dahlstrom, Griffen Dahlstrom, Samuel Everts, Lilli Everts and Henry Everts; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Shelbie (Carl) Hemphill of Zephyrhills, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Sharon Whitehead; and a brother, Randall Whitehead.

Along with being a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, she enjoyed scrapbooking, decorating and playing the piano. She loved supporting her grandchildren in their sporting and school activities and was their biggest fan. She will be very much missed until we see her again, one day, in heaven.

2 Timothy 4:7-8 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:

Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

Condolences and expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.bittlesandhurt.com.
