ELKHART — The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Elkhart County for Tuesday, Feb. 26.

A winter storm system currently in the Great Plains will move northeast into northern Indiana Tuesday morning bringing sleet and freezing rain. As the storm moves north, the precipitation will change to snow over southwest Michigan.

The heaviest snow accumulations from the system will be in southwest Michigan, but a low pressure system will move into the Elkhart area Tuesday evening, bringing the possibility of more snow.

Northern Indiana could see between 3 inches and 5 inches of accumulation by Wednesday morning.
