WINONA LAKE — Kenneth Shriner, 87, died early Saturday morning, Feb. 23, 2013, in Bremen.
He was born May 1, 1925, in Goshen to Rufus and Myrtle (Hall) Shriner.
On Aug. 4, 1950, he married Betty Davis in Goshen. She survives.
Also surviving is a sister, Mildred Heeter of Goshen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Donald Shriner; and a sister, Margaret Shriner.
Mr. Shriner served in the U.S. Navy for 2 1/2 years. He served in the European and Pacific Theatres, including Omaha Beach on D-Day and witnessing the flag being raised on Iwo Jima.
After returning home, he worked at the former Penn Controls for 45 years. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Oswego.
Friends and family may meet at Violett Cemetery for a 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013, graveside service. The Rev. Kirk Barger of Calvary Baptist Church will officiate.
Memorial donations may be directed to Calvary Baptist Church in Oswego or Kosciusko County Home Healthcare and Hospice.
Yoder-Culp Funeral home is assisting the family with arrangements.
