ELKHART — Rose Margaret Sievers, 95, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2013, at Hubbard Hill Retirement Community.
She was born Nov. 11, 1917, in Pence to Robert R. and Sarah Olive (Torpey) Leak. She married Robert W. Sievers on June 10, 1951, in Ambia. He died in August 2009.
She is survived by two sons, Carroll R. (Jeannette) of Nampa, Idaho, and Rolla B. (Vickie) Sievers of Goshen; five grandchildren, Desi, Morgan and Clayton Sievers, Jana (Scott) Mount and Mitchell (Janine) Sievers; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Ralph, Robert R. and G. Oliver Leak.
Rose was a graduate of Ambia High School and received her B.A. from the University of Northern Iowa and her M.A. from Northwestern University. She was as member of United Methodist Church and Sigma Alpha Iota International music fraternity.
Rose retired in 1972 after many years as a music teacher, pianist, organist, choir director and soloist. She contributed to the music programs of northwestern Indiana United Methodist churches, where her husband ministered in Zionsville, Whiting and Fort Wayne.
After retirement they moved to Trout Lake, Mich., until returning to the Elkhart area for their remaining years.
Rose choose to have her body donated to the Anatomical Education Program of the Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology.
