MIDDLEBURY — For 12 minutes, it seemed like everything was going Northridge’s way.

Up until that point, the Raiders were shooting 69 percent from the field, and they were keeping DeKalb’s main scoring threat, Adison Daub, relatively quiet. As a result, Northridge enjoyed an 11-point lead over the visiting Barons midway through the second quarter.

Then Daub erupted with 10 quick points in the waning minutes of the half. As he heated up, the Raiders began cooling down.

The Barons (15-7) jumped from 39.1 percent shooting in the first half to 57.1 percent in the second half, while Northridge struggled to keep up. DeKalb jumped back from its deficit to win 49-43 on Friday, Feb. 22.

Northridge, which had shot 66.7 percent in the first half, hit only two of 16 attempts in the fourth quarter. The Raiders (9-11) didn’t score for the first seven minutes of the final period.

“That’s just something that didn’t bounce our way,” Northridge coach Ronnie Thomas said. “We missed a layup, didn’t get it back. Get a steal and turn it right back over. Just one of those things where it seemed like the hoop was getting smaller and smaller, and I think our confidence got a little shaken.”

Daub finished with 19 points for DeKalb. Nate Ritchie led the Raiders with 13 points, including a two-handed fast break dunk in the second quarter.

“We knew he was a shooter,” Thomas said of Daub. “He got three 3s in the first half, and that’s too many. We knew he could shoot it from deep, and we lost him a couple times, and that was big.”
