ELKHART — Roy Gene Ernsperger, 70, of Elkhart, passed away at 3:48 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, 2013, at his home.

He was born Oct. 4, 1942, in Roseland to Elwood and Ruby Ernsperger.

Surviving are three children, Roy Gene Ernsperger Jr. of Independence, Ore., Rex A. (Karie) Ernsperger of Mishawaka and Ruby (Jason) Kerr of Independence, Ore.; his companion of more than 25 years, Janet C. Sexton of Elkhart; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, George (Margie) Ernsperger of Michigan. He was preceded in death by four brothers and sisters.

Gene was a member of Osceola American Legion and enjoyed watching NASCAR. He retired from Faries-McMeeken, where he worked for over 20 years.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at Zimmerman-Inman Funeral Home in Osceola. A celebration of life service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. His nephew, Ray Ernsperger, will preside. Cremation will take place at Elkhart Cremation Services.

Memorial contributions may be given to Osceola American Legion.
