EDWARDSBURG, Mich. — Don Myers, 87, of Edwardsburg, passed to his rest as the result of a two vehicle accident early Saturday morning, Feb. 16, 2013, on M-62, just north of Hess Road.
He was born Dec. 21, 1925, in Mishawaka, the son of Vern Porter and Gertrude (Metcalf) Myers, and had lived in the Michiana area all of his life.
Don was employed with the Bayer Corporation before his retirement. He had lived in Niles before moving to Edwardsburg around three years ago. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Family members who have passed away are his parents; his wife Alice Temple; his brothers, Bob Myers, Vern Myers and Glenn ‘Joe’ Myers; as well as sisters, Jean Bill and Mary Lou Siakowski.
Surviving are his children, Vern Myers (Jean Rinehart) of Niles, Rick (Georgann) Temple of Edwardsburg, Ronald (Pamela) Temple of Louisville, Ky., and Paul (Chris) Temple of Maryland; as well as a daughter, Donna Myers of Gobles, Mich. There are two sisters, Joyce Collmer of Jensen Beach, Fla., and Joann Davis of Elkhart. There are several grandchildren and many great- grandchildren, along with loving nieces and nephews.
According to Don’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial service at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, 26863 W. Main St., Edwardsburg, where family and friends may gather from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Jeff Reese, pastor of Hope United Methodist Church, Edwardsburg. The U.S. Navy Honor Guard will have military rites at the funeral home, including playing TAPS and folding of the American Flag.
