ORLAND — Donna F. Petty, 69, of Orland, passed away Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, in her home.
She was born May 24, 1943, in New Castle, a daughter to the late Donald R. and Hazel M. (Proctor) Day.
Donna had been a resident of the Wall Lake, Orland, area for the past 29 years, moving there from Elkhart, where she had been employed by Whitehall Laboratories for 12 years.
On July 6, 1960, in Elkhart, she married William Petty.
Donna enjoyed shopping, cooking, fishing, playing slot machines, time spent in Florida during the winter — walking the beaches and collecting shells — and time spent with family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving are her husband, William; two sons, Cliff (Wendy) Petty of LaGrange and Bill (Brittany) Petty of Corunna; two daughters, April (Mike) Bruce of Colon, Mich., and Trina Maxwell of Orland; 12 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two sisters, Connie (Bill) Eash of Albuquerque, N.M., and Dianna Burns of Cambridge City; and five brothers, Donald “Benny” Day and Rodney Day, both of Indianapolis, David Day of Ohio, Randy (Carol) Day of New Castle and Phillip Day of Burr Oak, Mich.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Sharon Benton.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at Hackman Family Funeral Home-Rosenberg Chapel, 807 E. Chicago Road, Sturgis, Mich. Services celebrating the life of Donna F. Petty will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at the funeral home with Pastor Matt Jones of New Covenant Christian Fellowship officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Orland.
The family suggests memorial donations be directed to the American Cancer Society; envelopes are available at the funeral home.
