Car in Goshen damaged by fire

GOSHEN — The Goshen Fire Department responded to a vehicle fire Sunday, Feb. 17.

Firefighters responded to the Elkhart Market Centre parking lot on U.S. 33 just after 7 p.m., where they found a 2002 Buick Regal in flames, said Assistant Chief Jim Ramer.

The owner of the car told firefighters he had just parked and gone inside the store. When he came out he saw smoke coming out from the engine.

Firefighters had to saw the car to gain access to the engine. Ramer said the estimated damage to the car was of $3,000.

Ramer said he estimates the fire was under control within 10 minutes. No one was injured.
