ELKHART — The Elkhart Community Farmers Market has closed until March.

Market manager Tom Langley hinted recently that he might close the market for a few weeks because of what had been a seasonal slow-down in traffic.

Langley could not be reached on Monday for comment, but a sign in the storefront at 224 S. Main St., indicates the store is temporarily closed.

The market’s Facebook page also has a note confirming the temporary closure and indicates the store will reopen in March.

The market opened in its new location in June of 2012 and saw a steadily increasing number of vendors over the first few months. Langley has continued to renovate part of the back of the building to accommodate more vendors and entertainers.

The market also has a coffee bar.

Langley originally envisioned seasonal hours, but sales and traffic led him to attempt keeping the market open through the winter.

Prior to the temporary closing, the market reduced its hours of operations.
