NorthWood, which was once 11-1, will face West Noble, which was once 14-1, when the Class 3A Wawasee Sectional boys basketball tournament tips off on Tuesday, Feb. 26.

Statewide tourney pairings were drawn by the IHSAA on Sunday, Feb. 17.

Meanwhile, Jimtown (6-12) gets the challenge of facing the No. 7-rated host Pilgrims (16-3) in the 3A Plymouth Sectional.

NorthWood (13-6) lost five straight after its 11-1 start, including a 63-60 decision at West Noble, but has since recovered to win its last two after dealing with a run of illnesses.

The Chargers (15-4) have lost two of three (by 30 to Northridge and by two to a 7-11 Angola club) since losing top scorer Drew Schermerhorn to a season-ending ankle injury.

Also in the Wawasee Sectional, the host Warriors (5-14) face No. 9 Tippecanoe Valley (16-3) in a first-round game that will be the teams’ second meeting in five days. They close the regular season against each other Friday, Feb. 22 at Valley.

Fairfield (10-10) drew a bye and faces the NorthWood/West Noble winner in a Friday, March 1 semifinal.

The Panthers, then as the hosts, are the defending sectional champs, beating West Noble 58-45 in last year’s final.

At the Plymouth Sectional, McDonald’s All-American Demetrius Jackson and Marian (9-9) face Culver Academy (2-17) in an opening-round game Wednesday, Feb. 27, followed by the Jimmie/Pilgrim game.

The Knights are the defending sectional champs.
