About 75 people braved the cold conditions Saturday morning, Feb. 16, and participated in the annual Homeward Bound Walk at Concord Mall.

The fundraiser helps generate money for agencies that work to end homelessness.

This year’s effort will help the following groups: Elkhart County Church Community Services, Emerge Ministries, Goshen Interfaith Hospitality Network, Habitat for Humanity of Elkhart County, iFiT, LaCasa, Minority Health Coalition of Elkhart County and The Window.

This year, organizers attempted to get more young people to participate.

“It’s a goal every year to get more kids involved. That was the one thing that was most important to me this year,” said Jennifer Doty, president of the Elkhart County Homeless Coalition and transitional housing coordinator for the group known as iFiT (Individuals and Families in Transition).

The group accepted pledges and donations and then walked around the mall three times.
