This time, it only took one extra period instead of five.
The Irish weathered DePaulís 11-point second-half comeback to win 82-78 in overtime Wednesday at Purcell Pavilion.
After a sluggish start, the Irish (20-5, 8-4 Big East) found their legs to enjoy a 43-32 lead at halftime. But all of Notre Dameís effort collapsed early in the second half when DePaul (10-14, 1-10) embarked on an 11-1 scoring run to tie the game and eventually take the lead.
The Irish regained the lead off an Eric Atkins jumper in overtime and never trailed again.
Jerian Grant led the Irish with 21 points and nine assists while Jack Cooley pitched in a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Brandon Young led the Blue Demons with 20 points.
